For those who are looking for beaches, from the center of Athens it is a half an hour drive towards the crystal beaches, and a wide variety of accommodation and resorts to fit every budget. Glufada town is just a five minute walk from the beach and 10 minute drive to the hot spot for those who love surfing! Close by you can find healing mineral springs at Vouliagmeni Lake.
For me, the center of Athens is where the heart is. There are lots of historical little treasures like The Zappeion Exhibition Hall, which has witnessed the history of Athens for the past 120 years. It has been a key site for some of the nation's most significant moments. As you pass through Zappeion Park, you discover the National Garden with the long palms trees and the Sundian installation.
You should definitely have a break to enjoy your coffee in front of the lake before you continue walking! In the heart of Athens you can lose yourself on the traditional little coffee shops who offer homemade desserts in jars and a list of lot of different ice coffees which will blow your mind! And of course, food...You can find the best Mediterranean food almost everywhere. From the nice traditional restaurants to the fancy modern bistro the ‘greek cuisine’ will make your experience unforgettable. You should try out for sure the ‘Souvlaki’ which is the MUST greek experience on your plate!!
One of the most beautiful and peaceful places for me is ‘the rock’ of Athens, which when you clime it you can see every corner of Athens and her blue sky! Be aware they are a lot of cute kittens around they will try to be your best friend.I am sure you will find always a little piece of you in Athens and every time you will visit it will always be a nice surprise!
