This video pretty much says it all. How could we resist a place that is titled a 'surf haven' ... i mean OMG! While we have yet to visit this spot ourselves, it comes highly recommended by friends. Consider visiting this spot during fall if you like a little bigger swell like 8 plus feet, or during the summer if you like more mid sized like 4-6 feet.

The north coast of the Dominican Republic is host to many a secret surf spot. After living in the area for four years, Bikini Empire co-creator, Monica has yet to visit them all. The most consistent and accessible beach by far is Encuentro Beach. Hit it up in the morning before the trade winds pick up for a delicious buffet of waves ranging from a fast left point break to a selection of reef breaks. It works best on a N or NE swell at low to medium tide. If you want to surf with the locals, make sure you hit up Chino's Surf School for the best lessons in Encuentro, or Pauhana Surf Camp to get a taste of all the breaks in the area.

This rock is a surfers gem waiting to be discovered. Luckily you heard it here first, this wave is for advanced surfers only. This beach break works best on a SW swell and NE winds. Not for the faint of heart, Nootka Island is off the north coast of British Columbia and is not only a trek to get to, but also extremely wild and secluded. Make sure you hit this surf destination with good buddies and a fully prepared pack.

Bikini Empire once spent a blissful week in the Baja of Mexico and had the honour of surfing Cerritos Beach in Todos Santos and Old Man's - one of the main breaks Los Cabos. Our verdict: If you love warm water surfing with a chilling vibe and decent sized swell, definitely check it out! Plus, its a short flight from the west coast of Canada, and also from the caribbean - which we lloooooove. This area is particularly unique, not just for tacos and beer, but also for the fact that it is open to two separate swell directions - meaning you will almost always hit gold when you visit.
